Jace says "Mom, I have a Supresent for you!"

I love these little moments.

Today

I was putting chap stick on Jace's poor chapped lips. He says...

"Mom, that's enough my eyes are sweating."

I looked him in the eyes and sure enough they were sweating, or watering. Whatever the kids like to call it now a days.

and now a brief excerpt from a friday night conversation

Jace lovingly jumps up on my lap cups my head gently in his little hands, looks straight into my eyes, and says

Jace:"Mama, will you marry me?"

Me:"Oh honey, I totally would but I'm already betrothed"

Jace: ?????

Richard: "No way, Mommy is my wife!"

Jace: ?????

Me: "Don't worry honey, when your all grown up, will find you the best wife."

Jace: "Okay!"

Sorry

The other night for dinner we had this special little pasta concoction I whipped up. Definitely no name for it. It wasn't bad or anything. Don't think I'll ever make it again. Quite simply because I won't remember how. Anyways, someone at the table said "Sorry". I'm not really sure for what. And with the biggest smile on his face Jace replied-

  • "Sorry, doesn't make the noodles."

Does anybody know what movie they've been watching recently? Seriously cracked me up! I guess you had to be there.

You might be a "great parent" if?

(My version of you might be a red neck if?)

You might be a "great parent" if...your 5 year old can use "that's what she said", correctly!

I'm not even kidding folks. Is it a good or bad thing that he doesn't even know what it means?

My little sneaker

"Jace, were you sneaking cupcake?"
"nnnnoooo"

February 23, 2009

"Jace, what did you learn in primary today?"

Jace:"About the Holy Ghost"

"What did you learn about the Holy Ghost?"

Jace:"Don't look at it!"

"Well, why not?"

Jace:"Because you can't see it!"

"Oh, okay."

Jace:"Yeah, it's a ghost"

Not the same thing honey, not the same thing.

A good time to move.

The following took place in the loft at Calhoun Manor. (That's right I said Manor) On Saturday the 14th sometime between noonish and three. The names have been changed to protect the innocent

Jared: "IF YOU DONT STOP IT I'M GOING TO BEAT YOU UP!...a few seconds pass... "Okay, hold still."

No children were harmed during this reinactment. We however decline to comment any further at this time.

"Mommy, I need to squeeze you again."

This is mine and Jaren's new routine. He is having horrible stomach cramping from his antibiotics. So every time it starts hurting he tells me he needs to squeeze me. Then I rub his head until he falls asleep again, or it starts to feel better.

Jaren is like me. He doesn't get sick very often. But when he does he goes BIG! He started off with a little cold. That turned into a respiratory infection. Which a couple days latter turned into a right ear infection. After a few days it turned into a left ear infection. Now he is having horrible stomach craps, and diarrhea from the antibiotics. He has missed 6 days of school in the last 2 weeks. I'm so afraid there going to try and investigate me or something. I'm not even sure when hes going to be able to go back to school. I read it can take up to two weeks to go away. He hasn't eaten but little nibbles of food since about Thursday. He doesn't want to do anything but lay in bed. Which even for a sick Jaren is pretty unusual. I love him so much and it makes me so sad to see him so sick. He didn't even flinch when my flash was going crazy while I was taking pictures of him. I was trying out depth of field on my camera. It is so fun!

***Updated 2/12***Jaren is feeling much better, and went back to school today! Yesterday I was trying to take pictures of him. He looks so skinny since he hasn't eaten in 5 days. He was being a bit camera shy without his shirt on. But it was so nice to see him smile.

Jace: "Mom are there lots of grandmas here?"

Me: "I'm sure there someones grandma, honey."

As we left the camera store in sun city this afternoon.
There were lots of little old lady's. It was so cute!

Jaren:"Mom, you always forget."
Lori:"Ah son, you know me so well."

At least this time he didn't have to eat the paper bag lunch.

January 12, 2009

uno, dose, tres, quatro, cinco. . . It's all the same.

Jaren: "Dad I want to play uno with you?"

Jace: " I want to play cinco!"
Later when Richard was shuffling the cards Jace told him with amazement to "burp the cards again."

Roshambo & Reverse psychology

The other night my children were fighting over the same toy. This has been a frequent occurrence in our house lately. So many toys, and they always want them same one. Go figure ( In my best Aunt Linda voice)! So tonight I tried a new tactic. I made them roshambo. That's how a mom gets things done! So we quickly taught Jace, who to our surprise won. At first Jaren was really excited by the idea. After he lost, not so much. He left the room, and when he came back he had on his tennis shoes. Mind you its almost 8 o'clock at night. Conversation went as followed.
JAREN: "I'm leaving! I don't like it here anymore."
ME: So many scenarios ran through my mind at once, but this was the best I came up with. "Where are you going?"
JAREN: "To Coreens."
Me: "It's dark, and cold outside. Plus you don't know the way. Maybe you should wait until the morning."
Jaren: "You could show me."
Me: Well I didn't really have to say anything here. I just gave him my Mom look. (yah, I have that super power too.)
Jaren: Left the room with a defeated look.
I think kids forget all to easy. Because around 8:30 he came to kiss me goodnight before Richard put the kids to bed. Or maybe? (light bulb going off) I can talk some sense into my kids after all. "Yah, your right. Probably the first one."

"He's tagonizing me Mom!"

Jaren on his little brother Jace.

Let me translate for you all. Jace is bugging the crap out of me!

Me and Richard decided we need to wright down the funny things the kids say. This is the one of winter break 08.

Cute things Jace said this week.

"I'm not a monster. I'm a boy!" After his brother wanted to play monsters with him.

" I understand." After being scolded by Daddy.

Not so cute things Jace said this week.

"No.!" "No!" "No!" "No!" "No!" "No!" "No!" "No!" "No!" You get the point.

Timeless

Tom & Jeremy
AKA Tom & Jerry

Jace loves Tom & Jeremy, as he calls it! He isn't so much of a t.v. watcher normally. He will watch most shows or movies for a few minutes before he's back into mischief. But he will sit down and watch a whole hour of Tom & Jeremy. Thank goodness for DVR! As a side note me and Richard were reading the info on the DVR. The episode was made in 1965. That means my son is enjoying the same Tom & Jeremy his parents and grandparents did when they were little. Somethings are just timeless.

The things my kids say that I get a kick out of.

Today it was time for Jace to take a nap. Of coarse he didn't want to so this was our conversation.
Me: Jace, lets go get in bed.
Jace: No. (As he runs away with his smile. The one that says. I'm gonna run, but I secretly want you to catch me.)
Jace: let me down. (As he hangs upside down in my arms)
Me: Say, let my people go.
Jace: let my peepee go.

Just to clarify I was no were near his privates. I just thought it was funny how people turned into peepee.

A little background on this next story. Okay get ready for this. I should get mother of the year for taking all 3 of my kids to the Police station today. Just hold on I will tell you why. Most of you know I am all done with my pre reqs for nursing school. The last two things I have to do before I can apply. Is receive my finger print clearance card(that is where the police station comes in), and take the NET test (nursing entrance). So we go down to the station. All 4 of us. Before we get there I stress the importance of where we are going, and how they need to be on there best behavior. I was having horrible visions of being arrested for being such a horrible Mother. If there isn't a law against it there should be. Just kidding! I would have already been arrested like, oh I don't know. Everyday! Oh, yeah I had bribes in tow as well. I feel like the lady in the library with a screaming child. Although they really arn't screaming. The police station has this horrible echo. So we get in, get paid as so forth. Then right in the middle of doing my finger prints. Jaren tells the police officer who is like 90 "I'm gonna blow this place up"!"Put the cuffs on me now!"

Just so he doesn't feel left out. (Because what 7 month old can't read?)A little story about Tate. I have been trying to get him to say Mama for quite some time. He will mouth it, but nothing comes out. He does say Aba though. Just for fun I googled Aba. This is what I found. American (any possible word you can think of that starts with a B) Association. Apparantly Richard says there is a Swedish band from the 70's named Abba. I guess they sing a song called Dancing Queen. Maybe you all have heard of it before. I Love my handsome block of useless knowledge. My 3 piece bundle of JOY!

So tell me what the B in your Aba stands for? American B____ Association.

One more funny story, before I forget.

Last week I was laying in bed. Being a bum. Totally one of my favorites. Although it only lasted about 15 minutes. Anyways, Jace climbed up next to me with the scriptures. He told me He was going to "read a stripture," I was totally ready. Curious to see if he had soaked in any of our scripture reading. He opened the book thumbed through it for a few seconds. Then proceeded to tell me about when Jesus cut all the bad guys arms off. I couldn't help but chuckle. I then asked him if he meant "Ammon who cut all the bad guys arms off"? He shook his head yes, then said "with a sword!" While he made these slashing back and forth movements with his arms. It was so funny.
Me and Richard have been taking turns reading stories out of the scriptures. Some from the bible, mostly from the book of Mormon. We have started reading are favorites first. Can you guess which one he had read the night before. It has actually been an effective way of reading to our kids. We read the stories from the scriptures then we paraphrase them. I think this has kept our kids interested. Instead of just reading straight through. I don't know why we didn't think of it before. What helps keep your kids interesed?

The things Jaren learned his first week at school....

  1. "Your ugly." I was not very happy about that one since he was saying it to me. He was mad at me, obviously.
  2. "Oh, Snap!" That one was hilarious, and my personal favorite.
  3. The bomb! As in "Mom, this dinner is the bomb!" Which is actually how he used it.
  4. "Yes, Ma'am." I was quite surprised by this one. But have to admit I kind of liked it.

All in all not to bad. I am a little nervous as to what the future weeks will bring. Hopefully no F words. I will keep my fingers crossed.
