delayed
I feel I am a little delayed in blogging about our vacation/4th of July. We had a really great time at my family reunion in Eager, AZ. My great grandfather Dick Slade was born in this small town in 1895, I believe. (Family-correct me if I'm not remembering right.)Him and my great grandmother Dora Maxwell were married in 1922, and now have almost 500 descendants. It is a great family tradition to return here every other summer over the 4th of July weekend. So...we left Thursday morning around 10:30 a.m. We stopped at McDonald's in Payson and let the kids play and eat. Then we were on the road again, only stopping in Show Low for a few minutes. We finally arrived at the camp site around 4:00p.m. My family has camped here for at least the last 10 years. I love it! It is easy for me to find, and holds lots of fond memories. Richard set up camp for him and the bigger boys, while Tate and I headed over to check in, at The Rode Inn. Yes, we rested our pretty little heads on soft, warm, white pillows while the others slept in their sleeping bags. Inside the tent. On the hard ground. In the pouring rain. After checking in we headed back to camp for a pot luck dinner, and visiting. There was also a washers tournament. It's probably better if you just don't even ask. After a while we headed back to the motel, where we visited/laughed some more with my Mom, Sister, and Aunt Pam. Tate stayed up late with us, and fell asleep hard when it was finally time. He slept till the wee hours of 5:30 a.m. waking me and my sister who stayed with us. I have lots of fun pictures from the day of the family reunion. Too many to post now. But I will be back with more soon I promise!
